President’s Message

December 2023

Here we are, at the end of another year with the Midori Bonsai Club, a time to reflect on what we have experienced or accomplished in our lives. I hope everyone can say that they have grown and have come to appreciate the world of bonsai more fully this year, and have developed a better understanding of its beauty and complexity. I wish everyone who has been bitten by this bonsai passion will have a wonderful and prosperous Holiday Season! As I reflect on this past year and its programs, it makes me even more excited for the coming year, and what it will bring for everyone in the club. Happy Bonsai New Year to Everyone!

On With The Holiday Festivities

Thursday, December 7th, 6pm

And what better way to start the holiday season than with an evening where we can all share and enjoy a generous meal, with food items we all make and bring in for everyone's delight! Yes, it's up to everyone who attends to bring in a favorite dish or food item that will complete a full holiday meal. Meat dishes, side dishes, salads and deserts, all will be needed and appreciated. It's your chance to give back and show your appreciation for what our club means to us and our fellow club members. But while you consider the food you want to make and share with club members, don’t forget to bring some bonsai auction items for our evening fundraiser.

Our meal will begin at 6pm, so all food items will need to arrive by 5:45pm, along with appropriate serving utensils. We will also need holiday decorations to add the finishing touches to our table decor. Greenery and pine cones are a good place to start! But to get the evening off to a good start, we will need volunteers to arrive by 5pm to help set up the room with tables and decorations so everyone can enjoy a festive atmosphere for the evening. So please, help us out early if you can!

What To Bring With You

Please bring in your food items you want to share for our holiday meal, as well as various bonsai items you would like to donate to the club for our open auction — for our evening entertainment which will take place after our evening meal. Also, we're asking that everyone supply their own dining plates, silverware, and glassware you may need for drinks like wine, beer, or whatever you may bring to enjoy that evening. Bottled water and sodas will be supplied, along with champagne by the club for your enjoyment.

Directly after our meal, I will share some comments regarding this past year's programs and highlights. We will also need to re-elect our clubs Board of Directors, President, and Vice President. A motion will be make to re-elect those who have volunteered to continue in their positions. Once a vote has been taken, we will move into the club's open auction part of the meeting.

Don’t forget to bring your checkbooks with you to pay for all purchased auction items. This is the club's largest fund raiser we put on each year. All bonsai items brought in for the auction benefit the club which receives 100% of the successful bids.

This is also the perfect time to consider paying for the the club's yearly dues, $40.00 for singles, and $50.00 for family members.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our club's Holiday Festivities! 🌳
